Who is a notary public
A Notary Public is a senior practising lawyer appointed by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, authorised to witness signatures, verify identities, and prepare documents for overseas use. The notary’s seal ensures formal international recognition.
Difference Between JP, Solicitor, and Notary Public
Justice of the Peace (JP): Certifies documents for use within Australia only.
Lawyer / Solicitor / Barrister: Provides legal advice, document preparation, or representation, but cannot replace a Notary for international certification.
Notary Public: Holds international authority to certify documents, issue official Notarial Certificates, and ensure recognition overseas.
